Two Exhibitions Showcase Construction and Energy Technologies
The International Exhibition on Construction, Mining and Transportation (Contech Vietnam 2026) and the Electricity, Energy and Lighting Exhibition (EL Vietnam 2026) brought together hundreds of domestic and international companies. Both events serve as platforms to demonstrate technology, foster business connections, and encourage investment cooperation within Vietnam’s infrastructure sectors.
Organised by Hanoi International Advertising and Trade Fair (HADIFA), the two exhibitions are now in their seventh year and focus on sectors that are critical to Vietnam’s industrial development. Contech Vietnam concentrates on construction, mining, and transportation, while EL Vietnam covers electricity, energy and lighting solutions.
Increased International Participation Reflects Market Potential
The 2026 exhibitions featured an expanded presence of international brands and industry partners. According to HADIFA’s CEO Le Lan Anh, the organisation aims to expand Contech Vietnam into a significant trade platform within Vietnam, the ASEAN region, and internationally by 2027. The platform will enable Vietnamese businesses to access advanced technologies and facilitate international companies’ entry into Vietnam’s infrastructure, construction, and industrial sectors.
Le Lan Anh noted that as construction, transport, mining, energy, and ancillary industries develop strongly in Vietnam, there will be sustained growth in demand for new technologies, modern machinery and equipment, and international technical solutions.
Wide Range of Products and Services Displayed
Contech Vietnam 2026 showcased a variety of products applicable to construction, highlighting new environmentally friendly technologies, structural and engineering solutions, construction machinery, surveying and measurement systems, and safety equipment. It also featured design, supervision, and project management consultancy services.
The construction materials sector exhibited building and finishing materials alongside technologies for sustainable production and manufacturing equipment. In the mining sector, the focus was on environmentally conscious extraction and processing technologies, with machinery and integrated equipment systems on display for mineral extraction, transportation, and processing.
The transport section included road and rail infrastructure machinery, components, safety technologies, and public transport equipment. Technologies for railway and high-speed railway development were also part of the exhibition, alongside relevant infrastructure development projects.
Supporting Industry Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
A technical seminar on “Smart Underground Cities” was conducted by Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, aiming to provide insights into emerging urban infrastructure concepts. Additionally, a business matching programme connected exhibitors with potential partners and customers, facilitating commercial discussions before, during, and after the events.
Organisers indicated that combining technology exhibitions, business matching, and seminars aims to go beyond product displays, creating a platform for technology transfer, business development, and sustained cooperation between Vietnamese and foreign companies.
Infrastructure Expansion Underpins Market Demand
The exhibitions coincide with Vietnam’s preparations for a significant scale-up in infrastructure and investment during 2026–2030. The government targets an average annual GDP growth rate of at least 10 per cent for this period, supported by a pipeline of large-scale infrastructure and construction projects.
This expansion is expected to drive increased demand for advanced machinery, materials, equipment, and engineering services critical to industrial growth and modernisation.
Supporting Industry Indicators and Government Initiatives
Vietnam’s cement manufacturers reported stronger earnings in the first half of the year, attributed to robust construction demand and infrastructure projects, signalling positive industry growth despite recent market slowdowns.
On 3 August, the Ministry of Construction and the Asian Development Bank signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on sustainable urban development, housing, infrastructure and transport, underlining government focus on infrastructural reform.
The government continues to encourage dynamic action and reforms at the provincial and local levels to reduce barriers for businesses involved in industry, construction, and infrastructure development.
Implications for Industrial Operations in Asia-Pacific
Vietnam’s infrastructure development is increasing demand for advanced technologies in construction, mining, energy and transport sectors. This translates into opportunities for suppliers of machinery, equipment and engineering services to support project execution and maintenance.
Stronger industry linkages fostered through exhibitions and government backing are also expected to enhance technology transfer and adoption within Vietnam’s supply chains. This may improve operational efficiency, workplace safety and environmental compliance in line with growing regulatory standards.
Looking Ahead
Stakeholders will monitor developments in Vietnam’s infrastructure pipeline and government reforms closely, as these will dictate the pace of technology adoption and market expansion. The growth of Contech Vietnam as a regional trade platform is anticipated to further integrate international expertise with local industrial growth strategies.
