MediaTek and Airoha Advance Global Network Infrastructure for AI Services
MediaTek and Airoha are demonstrating next-generation Wi-Fi, 5G CPE and PON solutions at Network X 2026 to support AI-driven network upgrades worldwide.
MediaTek and Airoha Technology, part of the MediaTek Group, showcased their latest network connectivity platforms at Network X 2026 in Vienna to assist telecom operators worldwide in upgrading infrastructure to meet demand from AI applications. Their portfolio includes Wi-Fi, 5G customer premises equipment (CPE), and passive optical network (PON) technologies aimed at delivering higher bandwidth, ultra-low latency, and enterprise-grade reliability across homes, enterprises and mobile scenarios.
Integrated Connectivity Solutions for AI Applications
The companies highlighted how the convergence of fiber-optic access through PON, wireless broadband via 5G fixed wireless access (FWA), and Wi-Fi technologies create a comprehensive end-to-end network experience required for real-time AI services. MediaTek Group leverages decades of engineering expertise to offer a unified approach spanning network access, user premises equipment and in-building connectivity.
Alongside supporting major broadband software ecosystems such as OpenWrt, RDK-B and prplOS, MediaTek and Airoha aim to simplify system integration challenges for telecom operators and accelerate the rollout of next-generation broadband services.
Commercial Deployment and Technology Advancement
MediaTek Group’s global scale is underpinned by mass production of billions of devices annually and close partnerships with advanced semiconductor manufacturers. At Network X 2026, they presented progress in key network technologies including Wi-Fi 8, 50G-PON, and 5G-Advanced. These developments focus on improving bandwidth, latency and energy efficiency to support large-scale AI deployments.
According to MediaTek Group, meeting AI-driven network requirements demands coordinated upgrades across fiber access, mobile broadband and Wi-Fi rather than isolated improvements in a single technology. The collaboration between MediaTek and Airoha has integrated their product portfolios since the initial planning stages to enable seamless network evolution.
This approach facilitates telecom operators’ ability to extend AI computing power beyond cloud data centres into homes, enterprises and connected devices, aiding the broader adoption of AI services.
Looking forward, MediaTek and Airoha will continue working with global ecosystem partners to refine and deploy their integrated connectivity solutions, supporting the next phase of network infrastructure evolution aligned with expanding AI workloads.
